NFL odds, lines, picks, spreads, best bets, predictions for Week 3, 2021: Model loving Ravens, Raiders

In order for the Minnesota Vikings to avoid an 0-3 start for the second straight season, they will have to topple a team they’ve lost seven straight to. The Seahawks have dominated the recent head-to-head matchups, but they aren’t overwhelming favorites in the latest Week 3 NFL odds. Seattle is a two-point favorite at Caesars Sportsbook in the NFL Vegas lines, as Seahawks vs. Vikings is one of four games on Sunday with a spread of a field goal or less.

Another of those games is Saints vs. Patriots (-3) as both teams look to avoid 1-2 starts. Elsewhere, Rams vs. Buccaneers has one of the tightest NFL spreads of the week at one point, a game many see as a potential playoff preview. All of the NFL lines are listed below, and before making any NFL picks on these games or others, be sure to see the Week 3 NFL predictions from the proven computer model at SportsLine.

The model, which simulates every NFL game 10,000 times, is up almost $7,800 for $100 players on top-rated NFL picks since its inception six-plus years ago. It went a sizzling 24-14 on top-rated NFL picks last season, returning more than $800. The model also enters Week 3 of the 2021 season on an incredible 122-81 run on top-rated NFL picks that dates back to the 2017 season.

The model also ranked in the top 10 on NFLPickWatch four of the past five years on straight-up NFL picks and beat more than 94 percent of CBS Sports Football Pick’em players four times during that span. Anyone who has followed it is way up.

Now, it has turned its attention to the latest Week 3 NFL odds from Caesars and locked in picks for every NFL matchup. Head here to see every pick.

Top Week 3 NFL predictions

One of the top Week 3 NFL predictions the model recommends: The Ravens (-7.5) cover the spread on the road against the Lions. Detroit gave up 35 points in Week 2 to the Packers on Monday Night Football. That means the Lions’ defense will be coming off a short week, will have tired legs, and will have to chase Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson around for three hours.

The Lions have allowed at least 35 points in five straight games dating back to last year and at least 30 points in eight straight. Meanwhile, the Ravens rank fourth in NFL in scoring offense, third in total yards, and first in rushing yards.

With Jackson leading the way, the model has Baltimore rushing for 200 yards, while the 2019 MVP also throws for two touchdowns. That’s just too much offense for Jared Goff and company to keep up with, which is why Baltimore covers in almost 60 percent of simulations.

Another one of the top Week 3 NFL picks from the model: The Raiders (-3.5) cover the spread at home against the Dolphins. Las Vegas has been one of the biggest surprises thus far this season, beating both the Ravens and Steelers as underdogs.

Quarterback Derek Carr is one of the main reasons for Las Vegas’ early season success, and he’s coming off a sensational performance against a stingy Pittsburgh defense. He completed 75.7 percent of his passes for 382 yards, two touchdowns and zero interceptions in Las Vegas’ 26-17 victory over the Steelers.

The Dolphins suffered a devastating 35-0 defeat against the Bills last week and will be without starting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa (IR), who suffered a rib injury against Buffalo. The model has also taken into account that Las Vegas is 5-1 against the spread in its last six games played in September. SportsLine’s model shows Carr throwing for 325 yards and two touchdowns, resulting in the Raiders covering the spread in well over 50 percent of simulations.
